Chicago Directorial Debut

I am thrilled to share that I and a crew of 30+ artists have been working tirelessly at the first staging of a new work: Ionéu: A Retelling, a neo-Greek tragedy of epic proportions written by the talented and theatre-loving Jacob D. Groth.

Ionéu (pronounced yo•NAY•oo) brings a fresh new look to the familiar and powerful Biblical story of the prophet Jonah. Jacob’s writing meets the age-old story with a rhythmic discourse. Our titular character, Ioné (pronounced YO•nay) must ask himself the question: “What will become of me if I let go of my bitterness?”

In a day an age in which we often find ourselves siloed within our own thoughts and experiences, our pain can become all-consuming. Left unchecked, the treacherous tendrils of a hate infested heart can stifle all hope or care for life.

For three more weekends only, come out and enjoy 90 minutes of fantastical theatre and join us in asking the question: “What is the nature of Mercy.”
